Product Introduction
The iron box manufacturer said that the raw material used in the iron box is tinplate, which originated in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic and Slovakia). The place has been rich in metal since ancient times, advanced technology, and know how to use water to engage in machine manufacturing, from the 14th century began to produce tinplate. After the First World War, the armies of various countries made a large number of iron containers (cans) and extended to this day. Tinplate is coated with a layer of tin on the surface, it is not easy to rust, also known as tinned iron. This kind of coated steel plate in China for a long time called "tinplate", some people think that because the tin plate used to make cans was imported from Macao (English name Macao can be read as horse mouth), so called "tinplate". There are also other sayings, such as China used to use this tinned sheet to make kerosene lamps, which are shaped like horse's mouth, so they are called "tinplate". The name "tinplate" is not exact. Therefore, the name "tinplate" was renamed as tinplate at the 1973 China tinplate conference, and the name "tinplate" was no longer used in official documents.
The iron box manufacturer said that in order to reduce production costs, not all tinplate surfaces have tin plating, and the thin plate without tin plating is called the substrate. Part of the substrate is galvanized or chrome-plated, unlike tin-plated iron, which is a thin steel plate without tin plating. Since tin is a precious metal, both chromium and zinc are cheaper than tin. If the surface of tinplate is not plated with tin foil, the most obvious is to reduce the production cost.
According to the different requirements of the packaging industry, the thickness of the tinplate material, the amount of tin plating, and the mechanical properties have different needs. Since its inception, tinplate has been developing in the direction of using less tin, or even no tin, and thinning the thickness of the tinplate substrate. Its purpose is to adapt to the change of canning products and reduce the cost of canning.
